DURHAM Mr. Edward L. “Eddie” Andrews Jr., 86, of Durham, died on Friday, January 17, 2014, after a short illness.
Mr. Andrews was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Edward L. Andrews Sr. and Pattie Foster Andrews. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Dixon Flooring Co. He was a lifelong prominent member of Carr United Methodist Church until they closed; he then joined Angier Avenue Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Goins and Juanita Levine.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley R. Andrews; two sons, Eddie Andrews III and wife, Marie of Hillsborough and Rusty Andrews of Durham; one daughter, Linda Andrews of Kernersville; brother, Bill Andrews of Garner and five grandchildren, Jonathan, Jennifer, Christopher, Alexandra and Michael.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Dr. Jim Baggett. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Billy Andrews, Robbie Andrews, Ricky Andrews, Lee O’Briant, David Russell and Barry Russell.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to the Duke HomeCare and Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704 for the Hock Family Pavilion.
The family would like express their gratitude to the staff of Hock Family Pavilion for the fine care given to Mr. Andrews during his illness.
