Edward Russell Hayes, Jr.

DURHAM Mr. Edward Russell Hayes, Jr. 76, of Durham, died on Monday, February 6, 2017.
Mr. Hayes was a native of Durham, the son of the late Edward Russell Hayes, Sr. and Anne King Hayes. He retired from the U.S. Army and later retired from Smith Corona Metals (SCM). He was a member of Angier Avenue Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Phyllis Minor and Emily Blankenship.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Hayes; son, William Russell Hayes and wife, Kristen of Youngsville; daughter, Megan Nicholson and husband, Thomas of Durham; sister, Mary Jane Copeland; six grandchildren, Kayla Hayes, Dylan Lascallette, Sophia Hayes, Cole Lascallette, Gianna Hayes, Robbie Nicholson and several nieces, nephews and close friends.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Monday one hour before the service at the church.
