Elaine Hawley Johnson

MEBANE- Mrs. Elaine Hawley Johnson, 77, passed away Friday, March 27, 2020 at her home.

Mrs. Johnson was born January 30, 1943 in Durham, NC. She retired from the EPA. Mrs. Johnson loved to read and enjoyed cooking. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her parents, Oney and Alice Hawley; sisters, Marilyn Hawley Stephens and Anne Zeck Perry; granddaughter, Ashley Tunstall; nephew, Gary Stephens.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sons, William Michael “Mike” Tunstall (Heather) and Donald Edward “Don” Tunstall, Jr. (Glenda); grandchildren, Kevin Tunstall, Jennifer Tunstall, Brandon Allen, Amber Allen and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at Maplewood Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Joel Gilchrist.
