HURDLE MILLS Mr. Elbert Abron “Tom” Perry, 89, of Hurdle Mills, completed his journey on earth on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, and is now with his heavenly Father.
Mr. Perry was born in Durham to the late Elbert Hammond Perry and Mamie Tilley Perry. He served in the U. S. Army and retired from Swift Premium Company. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Perry, Willie Perry and sister, Annie Perry.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Perry of Stem; two sons, Rod Perry and wife, Dolly of Efland and Alan Perry and wife, Maria of Hurdle Mills; two daughters, Karen Carson and husband, John of Hillsborough and Shelia Lambeth of Rougemont; three brothers, Horace Perry, Ralph Perry and Felton Perry all of Durham; six sisters, Alma Pope of Bahama, Dora Crabtree of Durham, Peggy Elliott and Edith Daniels of Oxford, Janet Stewart and Shirley Byrd of Durham; five grandchildren, Erica Nastaj, Nick Perry, Adam Perry, Luke Perry and Lori Craft; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Nastaj and Bryce Perry.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Randy Pittman will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Nick Perry, Adam Perry, Luke Perry, Jamey Hall, Matthew Williams and Michael Williams.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of Alan Perry. Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences may be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
