Eleanor “Ellie” Kapiko

Eleanor “Ellie” Kapiko, 88, of Durham, North Carolina went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, November 17, 2022. She was born on July 7, 1934 in Lancaster, South Carolina to the late Audrey and Georgia Baker.  She also is preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Biven Baker and Hazel Baker, and 2 sisters, Mendy Moore and JoAnne Wright.

Growing up Ellie enjoyed playing ball with her siblings and school friends.  She proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.  She was a very accomplished Seamstress and Tailor for many years, which included uniform and mascot alterations for her beloved Blue Devils.

She was a longtime member of Page Road Baptist Church.  Ellie enjoyed tending to her flowers, gardening and cooking, while sharing food with anyone who came by to visit.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sibling and wonderful woman blessed to have touched so many lives.

Ellie is survived by her loving daughter, Robin Kapiko Morris; son, Jay Kapiko; brother Lawson Baker; niece, Julie Moore whom she raised as a daughter; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703.
