Eleanor Marshall Ray

DURHAM Mrs. Eleanor Marshall Ray, 95, of Durham, died on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.
Mrs. Ray was born in Wake County to the late James Marion Marshall and Rhoda Etta O’Neal Marshall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Von Ray; son, James Paul Ray and six brothers and three sisters. She retired after 38 years with the American Tobacco Company. She was a member of the American Tobacco Retirement Club; Bossman’s Biscuit Club and volunteered at Durham Regional as a Candy Striper. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Jerry Ray and Johnny Ray; three daughters, Joyce Wright, Judy Wright and Janice Harris; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at South Granville Memorial Gardens in Stem. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12 to 1 p.m., prior to the service at Hudson Funeral Home.
