DURHAM Mrs. Electa Mixon “Leck” Stephens, 94, a former resident of 2120 Ellis Road, died on Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Hillcrest Convalescent Center.Mrs. Stephens was a native of Chatham County, the daughter of the late Noah B. Mixon and Mary Durham Mixon. She retired from Purcell’s Food Center as a Cashier. She was a faithful member of Bethesda Baptist Church, where she taught the Juanita Stallings Sunday School Class and was a former Financial Secretary. She faithfully visited the “shut ins” and was known for her beautiful smile, whether at home or at Hillcrest.She is survived by her sons, Judge Donald Stephens of Raleigh and Judge Ronald Stephens and wife, Vicky of Durham; one daughter, Saundra Stallings and husband, Norman of Durham; one brother, Ben Mixon and wife, Kay of Jacksonville, Fla.; 7 grandchildren, David Stallings (Martha), Elaine Fletcher (Phillip), Deborah Rook (Leighton), Laura Floyd (John), Cambria Stephens, Justin Stephens (Brenda), Epiphany Stephens and 16 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Saundra and Norman Stallings, 2515 Rolling Pines Ave. The family extends a special thank you to Libby Smith and the staff at Hillcrest Convalescent Center for the loving care given to Leck during these difficult years with Alzheimers.
