Elizabeth Ann Shepherd Bright

DURHAM- Elizabeth Shepherd Bright, 90, died on Monday, January 25, 2016. A lifetime resident of Durham, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Norman D. Shepherd and Euva Beck Shepherd Byrd. She was a graduate of Lowe’s Grove High School in 1943 and worked for the American Tobacco Company for 39 years before retirement.She is survived by a daughter, Norma Elizabeth Bright; two granddaughters, Gena Ann Mohwish and Zane Anastasia Rau; sister, Margaret S. Greenhill (Jimmy); step-sister, Mary Inez Lee Long of High Point, N.C. and step-brother, James H. Byrd; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Wallace B. Bright; parents, Norman D. Shepherd and Euva Beck Shepherd Byrd, her step-father, Alex J. Byrd; sister, Norma Shepherd Dupree Hussey, half-brother, William J. Shepherd and step-brother, Craven E. Byrd.She was a member of Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church, and loved the Lord and her friends at church. She enjoyed gardening, working in flowers, spending time with her grandchildren and also was historian for Beck and Shepherd families. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Pastor Tim McCreight will officiate. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.The family will receive friends on Friday, January 29 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the services.
