Elizabeth Gaddy “Lizzie” Tice

November 14, 1910 — November 30, 2013

DURHAM- Elizabeth “Lizzie” Gaddy Tice, 103, of Durham died on Saturday, November 30, 2013. She was born in Chesterfield County, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late William Charlton Gaddy and Hannah Elizabeth Davis Gaddy. She was preceded in death by her husband Darius Armstead Tice, two sons, Wiley R. Tice and Donald Tice, one daughter, Carolyn Tice Driver. She was a member of Westfield Creek Baptist Church in Chesterfield, SC. She was retired from Kings Department Store and Oak Grove School Cafeteria.  She loved to make quilts, crocheting, loved her garden and especially loved to go fishing. She was a fantastic cook and cake decorator, she was also a great family historian, many times being able to recall special stories and details about her family’s lives.

She is survived by two sons, Eddie Tice, Harrell Tice (Anne), one daughter, Sally Tice Martin (Andy), two daughters-in-law, Charline Tice and Janice Tice, several nieces and nephews, two grandchildren, Scott Martin and Melissa Driver Beard, two great- grandchildren, Davis Martin and Walker Beard.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Taylor Mills will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Andy Martin, Jim Bynum, Chuck Blevins, Tom Blevins, Jim Sturgill, Dick Gaddy, and Scott Martin.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service.  Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
