DURHAM- Elizabeth Oakley Kerr, 98, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021.
Mrs. Kerr was born on March 18, 1922 to Lela Hill and E.C. Oakley, Sr. in Durham, NC. She was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church. Elizabeth loved her family deeply and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
Mrs. Kerr was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wade Lee Kerr; brothers, Charlie Oakley and E.C. Oakley, Jr.; sisters, Betty Hudson, Della Carmack, Ethel Howe, Louise Monroe, and Mary Vann Emory.
Mrs. Kerr is survived by her son, Wade Kerr, Jr. (Barbara); daughters, Becky Kerr, Brenda Holleman (Tim), Myra Stewart, and Carol Ray (Monty); grandchildren, David Ray, Phil Ray, Alan Stewart, Wesley Stewart, Benjamin Wilkie, Daniel Wilkie, Katina Lauvray, Karen Maclaga, Emily Rehder, Erin Robertson, Betsy Alley, Leslie Clark, Leah Holleman, and Tara Kerr; and 28 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Officiating will be Reverend Tim Wheeler. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Olive Branch Baptist Church at 123 Olive Branch Rd, Durham, NC 27703, or to Hock Family Pavilion at 4321 Medical Park Dr. #101, Durham, NC 27704.
Hudson Funeral Home will be observing social distancing for visitation as well as the funeral service, and asks everyone in attendance to wear a mask when entering the building.
