DURHAM-Elvis “E.J.” Rigsbee, Jr. , age 82, went home to be with the Lord on January 29, 2012. He was a resident of Stem, previously Durham. Elvis started his career at Watts Hospital in the Printing Department and retired from Durham County Regional Hospital. He loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Durham. He loved to attend gospel singings all over North Carolina and Virginia with his best friend Willie Keith.He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Irene Rigsbee, his mother Zelma Allen Rigsbee and father Elvis Rigsbee, Sr. Mr. Rigsbee is survived by two sons, Genaves John Rigsbee (DeLaine) of Durham, and Ricky Lee Rigsbee of Stem; and one daughter, Selma Barker (Jimmy) of Stem; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one half-sister Rebecca James.DeLaine and Ricky would like to express our thanks to Willie Keith, Jeremy and Eric Rigsbee, and John and Ramona Moss for helping us with his healthcare during his declining health this past year.Rev. Genaves John Rigsbee, his son, will be officiating the services. Pallbearers will be, Willie Keith, Sandy Rich, Ira McCarson, Merle Knott, Joseph Owen and Bob Hurt.Hudson Funeral Home will be assisting the family. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
