Emma May Candello

DURHAM- Emma Lee May  Candello, 80, of Durham died on Monday, July 29, 2013. She was the daughter of the late Frank M. May and Bertha Kelly May. She was a homemaker and married for 62 years. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Elizabeth O’Briant and Bertha Lynn Piper.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard Chester Candello, one daughter, Cathie Martin of Roxboro; three brothers, Charles May of White Lake, NC; Harrison May and Frank May both of Durham; one sister, Frances Journigan of Hopewell, VA; six grandchildren, Rick Honeycutt, Jr., Bobby Oakley Jr., Kent Piper, Kristi Clayton, Amy Martin and Wendy Westbrook, five great-grandchildren, Kymberlee Oakley, Hunter Oakley, Taylor Piper, Ashley Allen and Shelby Clayton.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Pastor Gary Bateman and Pastor Jason Vernon will officiate.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Charles May, Robert May, Glenn Switzer, Brad Cox, Jason May and David Oakley.
