DURHAM- Mrs. Emma Marie Nichols Addison, 81, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.
Mrs. Addison was born on September 22, 1939 to William and Nadine Nichols in Danville, VA. For many years, she owned and operated Marie’s Greenhouse and Ceramic Shop in the 70’s along with her cake decorating business. Marie retired in 2006 after owning and operating Granny’s Kitchen Restaurant at North Duke Crossing for more than 10 years. She was of the Baptist faith. Marie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Addison was preceded in death by her parents William and Nadine Nichols; her husband, Luther C. Addison; sons, Alvin “Butch” Ramsey and James W. Dawson; daughter, Kathy “Susie” Ramsey; brothers, William Nichols, Thomas Nichols, and Joseph Nichols; sisters, Frances Burnett and Shirley Wynn; and grandchildren, James “Clay” Hooker and Brandon Ramsey.
Mrs. Addison is survived by her son, William “Hoss” Dawson; daughters, Ginga Addison, Gina Perkins (John); step-daughter, Pam Colliot; sister, Mattie “Patsy” Pierce; grandchildren, Britney Davis, Alexis Davis, and Addison Caviness; great-grandchildren, Izzabella Davis and Adalia Davis; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Officiating will be Reverend Jeff McCarthy.
