Emma Ruth Starling Buchanan

MORRISVILLE Beloved wife and mother, Emma Ruth Starling Buchanan, 80, of Morrisville, NC, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011. The daughter of James W. and Emma Melissa Capps Starling, Ruth was born August 9, 1931, in Pine Level and grew up in Fayetteville with her brothers and sisters: Bertha Starling, JM Starling, Sadie Kinlaw, Lebert Starling and Walter Starling. A graduate of Seventy First High School, she worked many years at Carolina Telephone, eventually retiring from Southern Bell. A woman of many talents, she was the pianist at her church, Calvary Baptist.She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Billy W. Buchanan and his daughters, Sonja Ritch of Timberlake and Rhonda Johnson and husband, Todd of Hurdle Mills; daughter, Terry Bunce Burgin and husband, William of Greensboro; sister-in-law, Doris Starling; granddaughters, Emma Christine Burgin Kunza and husband, John, and Susan Ellen Burgin; and many nephews and nieces. She is pre-deceased by her step-grandson, John Wesley Deese.She and Bill built together over the years a loving home. From sewing and frying the best chicken to being unbeatable in Bingo, she will be missed by her family and friends. She would want us to miss her with a smile. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel officiated by Pastor Roy Smith. Burial will be in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens.
