Ernest Gary Browning, 80, of Durham passed away March 19, 2025, at Duke Regional Hospital. Mr. Browning was born on August 6, 1944, in Durham to the late William Robert and Ferrie Wilkie Browning.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Gloria Brown Browning; daughter, Therese Carol Browning and his brother, William R. Browning, Jr.
Mr. Browning is survived by his daughters, Diane Browning Parrish and Nancy Browning; sisters, Carol Browning Separk (Paul); grandchildren, Amber Parrish, Elizabeth Caudill (Jody), Taylor Parrish (Jake) and Chad Jeffries (Brenna); and great-grandchildren, Emma Caudill, Savannah Caudill and Hunter Maeve Addison.
Mr. Browning worked for many years with M.M. Fowler Company in Durham. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Ernest was a motorcycle enthusiast who also enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing and was an avid football fan. Ernest enjoyed working in his garden. He loved his family dearly and will be remembered as a loving family man who adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Northern Free Will Baptist Church, 405 Orange Factory Rd, Bahama, NC. Reverend Norman Gordon will officiate.
