Esther (Faye) Joyner Tyler, a longtime resident of Durham, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the age of 81.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence S. Joyner and Hazel B. Joyner and two brothers, Howard S. Joyner and Edward (Alan) Joyner.
Faye is survived by her two sons, Paul E. Tyler, IV and wife Parka of Henderson and John S. Tyler and wife Christine of Wake Forest; two grandchildren, Holden Hedgepeth and Layne Joslin; nephew, Chad Alan Joyner (Megan Weaver) and their son, Braxton Alexander Joyner; niece, Danielle Joyner Piekaar, and her husband Michael Piekaar; as well as other numerous nephews and nieces, and several special cousins.
Faye was born in Nash County on August 3, 1940 and attended Rocky Mount Senior High School. She was the sweetest, determined, and most hard-working lady who loved her family and community. She worked as an accountant with the City of Durham and an Avon representative in the 1980’s and 1990’s in East Durham. After retirement, Faye loved to travel and spend time at Atlantic Beach, NC with her family.
A visitation will held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Hudson Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held the next day.
