Esther Sikes Daniel

DURHAM Mrs. Esther Sikes Daniel, 99, a former resident of Durham, died on Saturday, August 2, 2014.
Mrs. Daniel was born in Durham on July 24, 1915, to the late Robert L. Sikes and Sallie C. Sikes. She retired from Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company and was a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Daniel.
She is survived by her son Arthur Daniel (Becky Winkler) of Raleigh; daughter, Glynda Bradshaw (Jim) of N. Topsail Beach and two grandchildren, Melanie Oliver (Rodger) and Tracy Duke (Michael).
Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Don Christian will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brandon Christian, Bradley Christian, Rodger Oliver, Van Hursey, Robert Sikes and Robert Loyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Sanderford, Otha Hursey and Curtis Sikes. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m., before the service at the funeral home.
