Ethel Drelich Brody, a longtime resident of East Lansing, passed away June 9, 2022, at age 96. She and her identical twin sister Ruth were born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. Ethel graduated from Rutgers College of Pharmacy and married Theodore Brody (deceased), a classmate. After starting her career in Chicago, they then moved to Ann Arbor in 1952, and to East Lansing in 1966 where Ted chaired MSU’s new Department of Pharmacology. Ethel had many close friends and a wonderful optimism. She volunteered at both Kresge and Wharton Arts Centers, served on numerous committees at Shaarey Zedek, and supported progressive causes, including reproductive rights of women. As an avid reader, she loved meeting with her book group at the East Lansing Public Library. Ethel died in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where she moved in 2020 to live with her daughter, Laura and husband David Weaver. In addition to Laura, Ethel is survived by her children Steven (Brenda Grossman), Debra (Joseph Ruby), and Elizabeth (John Berlind), and seven grandchildren.
