Eugene “Gene” Edward Freeman

SANFORD- Mr. Eugene “Gene” Edward Freeman, 83, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 at his home.
Mr. Freeman was born February 10, 1934 in Durham, NC to the late Roy and Hazel Freeman. He worked at Farmers Exchange as a butcher for many years where he retired. Mr. Freeman was a member of Lynn’s Crossroads Ruritan Club. Mr. Freeman proudly served his country in the United States Army. He loved his family and was called Pappy by his great-granddaughter.
Mr. Freeman is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Freeman; parents, Roy and Hazel Freeman; brothers, John Freeman, and R.C. Freeman.
Mr. Freeman is survived by his daughter, Barbara Jean Campbell (Roger); sister, Mary Etta Guess; grandchildren, Jessica Hubbard (Stephen), Jacob Campbell; great-grandchildren, Brynlee Denim Hubbard.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Hugh O’Shields.
