DURHAM- Eva Mae (Key) Keith, age 81 of Durham, NC, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 in Durham.
Eva was born in Granville County on November 11, 1939 a daughter of the late William and Flora (Brogden) Key. She had been employed for over 35 years at several of Durham County’s Public Schools as a Special Education teacher. She attended Freedom Baptist Church.
Eva was known for her famous “Chocolate covered peanuts”, often gifting to family and friends. She loved to go dancing and would gather weekly with friends to listen to music. She enjoyed a good soap opera, loved to read, doing any type of puzzle, and always looked forward to her monthly lunch date at Ruby Tuesdays with her beloved friend, Linda Garrett. She looked forward to her yearly get-a-way with friends to the beach and mountains for a music jamboree.
Eva is survived by her husband, Donald Keith, daughter Kathy Cozart of Durham, granddaughter Melissa Cozart of Durham, sister, Ann Dickerson of Creedmoor as well as her nieces, nephews, and a beloved group of friends.
In addition to her parents, William and Flora, Eva was preceded in death by her sister, Janie Driggs.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, from 10 AM until 11 AM. A Funeral service will follow at 11 AM, with Rev. Michael Keaton, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
