Oxford- Evelyn Clark Smith, 94, of Oxford passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016. She was the daughter of James Percy Clark and Iola Satterwhite Clark. Evelyn retired from Durham Drapery. She loved collecting turtles. Evelyn was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Needham M. Smith, Sr., daughters, Rose Lee Champion, Betty Lou Massey and Bobbi Jean Pulley.
She is survived by her son, Needham M. Smith, Jr. of Hillsborough; daughters, Trudy Black of Oxford; Mary Ann Zeits of Oxford; and Edith Smith Wrenn of Timberlake; thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Hall will officiate. Burial will be in South Granville Memorial Gardens in Stem. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Smith, John Black, David Carey, Christine Weiss, Joanie Calahan and Brenda Black. Honorary pallbearers will be Meagan Biecy, Tracy Carey, David Zeits, Charlie Carey, George Wrenn and Ricky Champion.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
