Fannie Bell George Johnson

DURHAM- Mrs. Fannie George Johnson, 84, died Saturday, May 17, 2014. She was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late William Gus George and Eliza King George. She retired from Burlington Industries. She was a member of Angier Avenue Baptist Church and Ruth Bible Class, Wednesday morning coffee bowling league and the Thursday morning Senior Citizen bowling league. She was preceded by her husband Matthew Manley Johnson, three brothers, William “Bill” George, Donnie George and Claude “Cocky” George.

She is survived by two daughters, Teresa Paulette J. Woody (Cary), Judy Wooden (Sunny), one  sister, Elizabeth “Sis” Ray of Durham, three grandchildren, Justin Matthew Kelly and fiancée Stephanie Coble, Tyler Wooden and wife Stacey, Andrew Wooden, and step-granddaughter, Whitney Woody.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Rev. James Baggett and Rev. Kevin Byers will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Justin Kelly, Tyler Wooden, Andrew Wooden, Sunny Wooden, Cary Woody and Willie George. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruth Bible Class.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made to: Angier Avenue Baptist Church, 2101 Angier Ave., Durham, NC 27703 or charity of choice.
