Mrs. Flora Mae Goss Carver, 91, of Durham, died on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Mrs. Carver was a native of Durham, the daughter of the late Augustus Graham Goss and Lorena McGee Goss. She was a homemaker and loved playing Bridge, golf, bowling and gardening. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas Goss, Bobby Goss, Mack Goss, Nick Goss, Augustus Goss Jr. and one sister, Edna Goss Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin E. Carver; son, Ricky Carver (Tracey) of Bayboro NC; daughters, Jean Carver Kelley of Burlington and Joyce Slinger (Malcom) of Angier; one sister, Merita Goss Clegg of Durham; grandchildren, Carol Jarman, Bryan Carver, Eric Carver and Barry Renwick; two great-grandchildren, Zachory and Mackenzie Higgins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the Few Chapel at Croasdaile Village, 2600 Croasdaile Farm Parkway. Chaplain Laurie Hays Coffman and Denise Waters will officiate. Interment will be in the Lowes Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Barry Renwick, Bryan Carver, Eric Carver, Mike Goss, Ernie Batchelor and Robert Dale Moore.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m., before the service at Few Chapel. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern North Carolina, 3739 National Drive, Suite 110, Raleigh, NC 27612.
