Frances Freeman Barnes

Frances Freeman Barnes, 93, of Durham, North Carolina peacefully passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025. She was born on August 18, 1931, in Wake County, NC to the late John F. Freeman, Sr. and Lorena Keck Freeman.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Lexie Barnes, Jr., daughter, Wendy Pritchett and brothers, John F. Freeman, Jr. and Orus L. Freeman.

Frances enjoyed going shopping with Connie and eating out with family and friends. Mrs. Barnes always looked forward to a trip to the beach. She saw joy in the simple things in life and will be remembered as a sweet and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by her daughter, Connie Morris (Richard); son-in-law, Garry Pritchett; grandchildren, Megan Landre (Jason), Matthew Pritchett (Brittany), Anna Buchanan (Andrew) and Daniel Morris (Sydney); great grandchildren, Raelynn, Willa, London, Lincoln, Logan, Agger, Aila, Emma and two more due in June and July; nephews, nieces and friends she loved dearly.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 3712 Cheek Rd., Durham, NC 27703. The Rev. Hugh O’Shields will officiate.
