DURHAM Mrs. Frances Whitaker Choplin, 95, of Durham, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 05, 2016.
Mrs. Choplin was born in Winston-Salem, the daughter of the late William E. Whitaker and Frankie Swing Whitaker. She retired from Burroughs Wellcome. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and the Woodmen of The World. She loved her family, singing, cooking and enjoyed traveling. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her husband, of 76 years, Carl E. Choplin Sr.; son, Carl Edward “Eddie” Choplin, Jr. of Raleigh; three daughters, Marian Choplin Goodwin (Roy) of Raleigh; Jean Choplin (David) of Durham and Jeanette Choplin Roberts (Ray) of Rougemont; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 7th at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home. Flowers are acceptable. Online condolences may be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
