DURHAM- Mrs. Frances Virginia Farrell, 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 21, 2020.
Mrs. Farrell was born on July 29, 1928 to the late Horace and Lennie Lingerfelt in Petersburg, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, William Vernon Farrell, and her sisters, Virginia Dare Harris and Bertha Waddell.
Mrs. Farrell is survived by her sons, James Farrell (Betty), Kent Farrell, and Gary Farrell (Phyllis), her sister, Evelyn Gupton, five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Farrell was an active member of Bethesda Baptist Church and was an Avon Representative for 30 years. She was a loving and thoughtful woman, who loved her church friends. Frances enjoyed puzzles, gardens, bird feeding and watching, fishing, and watching game shows, especially Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Her greatest joy was to support her sons and grandchildren at their athletic events. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
A special thank you from the family, to Michelle and her helpers who stayed with Mrs. Farrell for almost 4 years and were like family.
Flowers are acceptable, or memorial contributions can be made to Bethesda Baptist Church at 1914 S Miami Blvd, Durham, NC 27703.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Officiating will be Reverend Hugh O’Shields. The public may come view and sign the register on Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Hudson Funeral Home will be observing social distancing for visitation as well as the funeral service, and asks everyone in attendance to wear a mask when entering the building.
