CAMPBELLDURHAM Mrs. Frances Walker Campbell, 94, of Durham went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 14, 2010.Mrs. Campbell was born in Alamance County, the daughter of the late Levi Empson Walker and Ida Kernodle Walker. She retired after 35 years from Verizon (GTE of the SE). She was a member of Angier Avenue Baptist Church. She was an avid sports fan and as a young woman played basketball with the Mayes Hosiery Mill Team. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Reid Campbell and 3 brothers and 5 sisters.She is survived by her daughters, Ann James and husband, Billy of Durham and Kay Swanson and husband, Joe of Lewisburg, Pa.; grandchildren, Lisa James, Kristi Reich and husband, Matt, and David and AJ Swanson.A graveside service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Union Ridge United Church of Christ Cemetery in Alamance County, officiated by Rev. Clarence Parrish. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend gratitude to the staff at Peak Resource (Treyburn) for their care and support during the past two months.
