Fred Duke

DURHAM  Mr. Fred Duke, 76, of  4915 Glenn Road, died on Saturday, June 20, 2015.

Mr. Duke was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Walter Duke and Thera Teasley Duke. He worked at Comfort Engineers for 47 years as a sheet metal mechanic and later as a shop foreman. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, bowling and was an avid Duke fan. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam, Edward and James Duke and sister, Lula Mae Turman.

He is survived by his daughters, Marie Duke Quimby (Keith), Betty Duke George (Chip), Mary Beth Duke Whalen (David) and great niece who was raised as a daughter, Tonya Long Fredrickson; 8 grandchildren, John Stanley, Melissa Stanley, Summer Martin, Holly Fraser, Abby Williams, Katie Tyler, Bella Fredrickson and Lukas Fredrickson; 5 great-grandchildren, Landon, Chance, Brynn, Natalie, Henry; brother, Johnny Duke and companion and friend, Jackie Duke.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Chaplain Tom Hehenberger will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 4915 Glenn Road.
