LINCOLN- Mr. Gerald Layton Pearce passed away July 24th, 2021, at Atrium Health in Lincolnton.
Mr. Pearce was born in Durham County on July 22nd, 1958, to the late George Albert and Minnie Allen Pearce.
Mr. Pearce was a hardworking man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will remain in the memories of many as a beloved coach on many ball fields. He loved working in the garden and was well known for always doing something. He was a lifetime Washington Football Team and UNC Tar Heels fan. Gerald will always be remembered by many as a selfless man who was always putting others before himself.
Mr. Pearce was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bill Pearce; his sister, Judy Newton; and his brother-in-law, Joe Black.
He is survived by his wife, Dollie Pearce; his children, Jason Pearce (wife Kristin), Kristin Mathis (husband Anthony), and Leslie Pearce; his stepchildren, Jesse Bare (wife Sarah), Chris Brown, and Randy Clonch (wife Miriam); his siblings, George Pearce (wife Susan), Josephine Black; sister-in-law, Linda Pearce; brother-in-law, Cecil Newton; his grandchildren, Gabriel, Amelia, Isaiah, Zoey, Brooklyn, Arabella, Destini, Damion, Aubree, Eli; a grandson on the way; as well as multiple nephews and nieces.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held prior to the service, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Hudson Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Jonathan Newton. Due to the request of the family, masks will be required at the visitation and graveside.
