George Calvin Register

Granville County- George Calvin Register, 82, of Butner passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2015. George was born to Mr. Pratt Register and Mrs. Emma Midgett Bridgers on January 5, 1933 in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina. George met his wife Jackie at The NC Rehabilitation Center for the Blind where he worked for thirty years. George and Jackie married on March 8, 1959 and they had 48 wonderful years together before she passed away in 2008. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Armstrong and Mary Alice Bass.
George is survived by his sister, Dorothy Wilder of Rocky Mount; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Cynthia Bridgers of Elm City; special friend Dot Thomason of Raleigh and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Butner. Rev. Lenny Rogers and Rev. Charlie Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens.
