Mr. George Michael “Mike” Fletcher, 80, of Durham, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
Mr. Fletcher was born December 1, 1941, in Durham County to the late Clarence Ernest Fletcher and Beulah Warren Fletcher.
Mike proudly served his country for 5 years in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam war. He was a devoted Christian serving as Youth Pastor at First Assembly of God in Durham and Pastor of the Lifeline Ministries. He also served several missionary groups of the years. He was currently a member of Harvest Christian Ministry in Durham. Mike retired from General Telephone Company (GTE) with 30 years of service. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mike preceded in death by his brothers, Norman Fletcher, Gordon Fletcher, Clarence Fletcher, Jr., and J.W. Fletcher; sisters, Marie Carden and Doris Roberts.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Roberson Fletcher, God Son, Joey Giattino (Kelly); granddaughters, Taylor and Mackenzie Giattino; brothers, Harold Fletcher (Teenie) of Roxboro and Claiborne Fletcher of Durham; sister, Brenda Fletcher Morris (Walt) of Durham; nephews, Scott Morris (Kellie), Brian Morris (Stephanie), Steve Walters, David Fletcher (Sherri); nieces, Tamara Fletcher and several other nieces and nephews
A visitation will be held on Monday September 19, 2022, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home followed by a memorial service with military honors at 3 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Rusty Williamson.
Flowers are acceptable.
