DURHAM- Mr. George Lamar Tyler, 86, passed away at his home Sunday, February 4, 2018.Mr. Tyler was born October 26, 1931 in Norcross, GA. Mr. Tyler proudly served his country in the United States Army where he retired after 30 years as a Sergeant Major. He enjoyed reading, gardening and jogging and believed in staying physically fit.Mr. Tyler is preceded in death by his brother, Rudolph Tyler.Mr. Tyler is survived by his wife, Mattie Lee Tyler of Durham; sons, Anthony Tyler of Durham, Douglas Tyler and wife Emily of Oxford; granddaughter, Sophie Tyler of Raleigh.Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Hudson Funeral Chapel.
