Geraldine Porterfield Blake

Geraldine Porterfield Blake, 86, passed away May 15, 2022, at her home, The Enclave, in Clayton, NC.

Mrs. Blake was born November 21, 1935, to the late Nulen Carr and Fannie Clayton Porterfield in Durham, NC. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She had a knack for knowing when people were in need and was right there to help. Geraldine was also a member of Ebenezer Community Baptist Church, though she had not been able to attend for several years due to health issues.  She retired from Westinghouse/ABB with over 20 years of service.

In addition to her parents, Geraldine is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Carl Blake; brothers, Sonny, James, Jonah, and Frank Porterfield; sisters, Reba Carrigan, Virginia Blake, Marjorie Cash and Bernice Porterfield.

Mrs. Blake is survived by a son, Tony Blake (Teresa) of Knightdale, NC; daughter, Susan Blake Cline (John Mack) also of Knightdale, NC; grandchildren, Jessica Cline, Zachary Cline, Justin Blake (Kimberly), Marshall Kermon, Brittany Mack and Landon Mack; great grandchildren, Locklen, Holden and Bowen Kermon, Lawson Blake, Layla Mack and Blayden Mack.

A visitation will be held Friday May 20, 2022 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. following the visitation at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Ed Moore will officiate.

The family would like to thank the wonderful and loving care given by the staff at The Enclave in Clayton, NC where she resided for the last 3 years. In addition, a special thanks to the Amedisys Hospice care team for their loving care of Mom and the support they provided to family.
