DURHAM- Mrs. Gilda Ferrell Wade, 85, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 24, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.Mrs. Wade was born on September 10, 1931 in Johnston Co., NC to the late Daniel and Lucy Ferrell. She is a longtime resident of Durham, NC. Mrs. Wade was a member of Berea Baptist Church and of the Joyous Friends Sunday School Class. She enjoyed working in the flower garden. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wade was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all.Mrs. Wade is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Wade; parents, Daniel and Lucy Ferrell; brother, Stephen Ferrell and sister, Mildred Wells.Pallbearers will be Larry Evans, Dwight Evans, Billy Barbee, Daniel Wade, Ernie Batchelor, and Dennis Massey.Mrs. Wade is survived by her son, Steve Wade (Karen) of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Barbara Chambers (Thomas) of Rougemont, NC; brother, Robert Ferrell of Lucama, NC; sisters, Josephine Davis of Wilson, NC, and Roberta Ferrell of Lucama, NC; grandchildren, Brian Chambers, Craig Chambers, and Kristen Wade; great-grandchildren, Autumn Chambers, Summer Chambers, and Gaige Chambers.Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday June 27, 2017 at Hudson Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Michael Jesse. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
