Mrs. Gladys Anne Van Hise Bennett, 90, of Durham passed away June 27, 2022, at Hock Family Pavilion.
Mrs. Bennett was born in Rochelle, Illinois to the late George King and Beatrice Tilton Van Hise.
Gladys attended Emanuel Free Will Baptist Church for many years and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 416. She enjoyed sewing and collecting deer figurines, but mostly spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by nine siblings.
Gladys is survived by her husband of over 66 years, John Burtis Bennett; sons, Phillip Bennett (Cheryl) of Federal Way, W.A., Norman Bennett (Donna) of Apex, N.C., Paul Bennett of Durham; daughter, Roberta Headley (Art) of Mead, W.A.; sister, Beulah Reynolds of Phoenix, A.Z.; grandchildren, Kaitlin Baker (Travis), Melanie Bennett, Jamie Matthews (Michael), Sarah Headley, Brittany Williams (Lane), Zachery Bennett and Carter Bennett; great grandchildren, John, David, Aline and Myra Baker, and Amaya Williams. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Phillip Bennett, Norman Bennett, Paul Bennett, Jamie Matthews, and Lane and Brittany Williams.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. July 6, 2022, at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be the Reverend Hartwell Neal. Entombment will be at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 3712 Cheek Rd, Durham, NC.
