Gloria Faye Hight

July 13, 1931 — June 12, 2014

DURHAM- Gloria Faye Jones Hight, 82, of Durham died on Thursday, June 12, 2014. She was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Forest Percy Jones and Lottie Hortense King Jones. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. She loved the beach and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She retired from Durham Public Schools. Mrs. Hight was preceded in death by her husband Robert Edward Hight, Sr.

She is survived by her son, Robert E. Hight, Jr. and wife Jan of Durham; two daughters, Brenda H. Black of Durham; Pamela H. Parker and husband Stan of Durham; five grandchildren, Chris Weiss, Traci Parker Baird, Kathryn Parker McIver, Maddy Hight, Robbie Hight III, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church. Rev. Hugh O’Shields will officiate. Burial will be in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Joel Morris, Jose’ Martinez, Wayne Fowler, Jacob Utley, Jeff Jones and Ted Fowler.  Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Hogan and Vic Holleman.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00, one hour prior to the services at Bethesda Baptist Church and other times at the home, 2605 Rolling Pines Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Amedisys Hospice of Durham, 2609 Duke St., Suite 102, Durham, NC 27704.
