FLOWERS, JR.DURHAM Mr. Grady Roosevelt Flowers, Jr., 81, died on Monday, May 02, 2011. He “has fought the good fight, he has finished the race, he has kept the faith. Now there is in store for him the crown of righteousness.” Mr. Flowers was born in Kipling, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Roosevelt Flowers, Sr. and Myrtle Lee Black Flowers and a granddaughter, Tina Flowers Bass. He retired from Cooper Kenworth Inc. He loved to play the guitar and played with the Gospel Band “The Beacons” and others. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Geraldine Brown Flowers; one son, Rudy Flowers and wife, Shelia of Mebane; two daughters, Linda Flowers of Orlando, Fla., Janet Tilley and husband, Mike of Franklinton; three grandchildren, Michael and Derek Tilley, Holly Flowers Norris and seven great-grandchildren.Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Rev. Eddie Dollar and Rev. Johnny Hewett will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
