"Granny" Audrey Proctor

Audrey Proctor, (Granny), 86, of Durham, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024. She was born on October 1, 1937, in Durham, NC to the late Hervie and Christine Williford.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Terri Lynn Ross; son, Stephen Bryan Ross; sisters, Barbara Williams and Carol Smith and brothers, Hervie Earl Williford and James Williford.

Audrey was raised on her parents’ farm along with 6 siblings and had many fond memories of her childhood. She graduated from Oak Grove School in 1956 and while in school, played guard on the girls’ basketball team.

After starting her family, she enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom for many years, where it was quickly learned what a great cook she was. Over the years family and friends would often call on her to get recipes or cooking advice. In addition to cooking, she loved to make quilts, sew, cross stitch, and enjoyed Gaither Videos and BBN radio. 

Granny, as she was known to many, loved people! She was a beautician in Durham for over 30 years and enjoyed the time spent with her clients, many of whom became lifelong friends. 

She was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies Bible Class. She dearly loved her church family.

But next to her relationship with the Lord, family was the most important thing to her. She loved and cared deeply for them. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Louann Corr (Mark), Kim Batstone and Angie Steffer (Rich); brother, Ron Williford (Angela);  sister's, Deborah Young (Landis), Kathy Clay (Barry); Grandchildren, Justin Goss (Keri), Kyle Chamberlain (Kelly), Lindsay Hon (Josh), Sarah Sherron (Jeff), Shelly Kinder (Kyle), Brittany Naglia (Paul), Kyra Johnson (Brock), Bailee Steffer, Sam Steffer and Lylah Steffer; 21 Great Grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Hudson Funeral Home, 211 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church, 3864 Guess Rd., Durham, NC 27705. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Pastor Scott Gray and Pastor Randy Youmans will officiate.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Mark Corr, Rich Steffer, Sam Steffer, Justin Goss, Kyle Chamberlain, and Rob Young.
