Helen Marie Lee Swinford

HILLSBOROUGH- Mrs. Helen Marie “Lee” Swinford, 83, passed away April 14, 2017 at Brookshire Nursing Home.
Mrs. Swinford was born on January 30, 1934 in Devils Lake, ND. She attended schools in Casey, IL where she graduated high school in 1952. She earned her master’s degree in Library Science at Eastern Illinois University. Mrs. Swinford then worked for the Illinois Public School system as a teacher for many years. Mrs. Swinford was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend to all.
Mrs. Swinford is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Lee; brother, Ralph Lee; sisters, Lois Sherwood, and Marjorie Lawless.
Mrs. Swinford is survived by her husband Charles Swinford of 56 years; daughter, Dr. Amy Swinford (Rod Lemburg); sons, Mark Swinford (Susan), Emerson Swinford (Sarah); sisters, Lucille Todd, and Leona Lee; brother, Jim Lee (Betty); sister-in-law, Doris Lee; brother-in-law, Dr. Harold Lawless, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
No services will be held locally, but a memorial service will be held at a later date in Casey, IL.
