STEM- Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Hankey Pope Perry, 94, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021.
Mrs. Perry was born on November 7, 1926, to Roy and Ruth Hankey in Adams County, PA. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Oxford, NC. Helen enjoyed her flower garden and tending to them. She loved her family dearly, as well as her church. Helen enjoyed visiting her siblings in Pennsylvania and was very close with them. She will be lovingly remembered by all blessed to have known her.
Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ruth Hankey; first husband, William E. Pope; second husband, Elbert “Tom” A. Perry; brothers, Carl Hankey, Ralph Hankey, Marlin Hankey, Jim Hankey, and Robert Hankey; and sisters, Janet Hartman, Anna Mae Hankey.
Mrs. Perry is survived by her sons, Larry Pope (Janie) of Stem, NC, Ricky Pope (Laura) of Bahama, NC; daughter, Tina Nichols (Todd) of Hillsborough, NC; step-sons, Rodney Perry (Dolly) of Hurdle Mills, NC, Alan Perry (Maria) of Hurdle Mills, NC; step-daughters, Karen Carson (J.T.) of Hillsborough, NC, and Sheila Lambert of Hillsborough, NC; brothers, Bill Hankey of York, PA, Ronnie Hankey (Carolyn) of Gettysburg, PA, and Larry Hankey (Glenda) of Gettysburg, PA; sisters, Barbara McGrew (Bob) of Mason, IL, and Joy Hankey of Gettysburg, PA; grandchildren, Tammy Pope, Ashley Pope, Crystal Pope, Laura Toerge (Eric), Dylan Nichols (Emily), and Dustin Nichols; great-grandchildren, Joey Pope, Brittaney Pope, Elexis Codwise, Taylor Toerge, Carter Pope, Joshua Toerge; and great-great-grandchild, Aubree Pope.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dylan Nichols, Dustin Nichols, Marty Sherron, and Felton Perry.
Flowers are acceptable.
Hudson Funeral Home will be observing social distancing for visitation as well as the funeral service, and asks everyone in attendance to wear a mask when entering the building.
