Henry C. McCarthy

MCCARTHYDURHAM Mr. Henry C. McCarthy, 87, of Durham, passed this life on Saturday, December 11, 2010. A native of Long Island, NY, he left home at an early age to join the U. S. Army. He served in Aviation/Engineering during WWII. He retired from the American Tobacco Company in 1982 with 32 years of service. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.He is survived by his wife, Marie Fox McCarthy; stepdaughter, Joan Medlin Keith; and dear friends, whom he referred to as a “son” and “daughter,” Ander Aiken and Diane Hunsicker.A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Ernest Ferrell. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at Hudson Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.The family wishes to thank the staff at Hock Family Pavilion (Duke Hospice) for their services and caring attitude.
