Henry “Hall” Tilley, Jr.

DURHAM- Mr. Henry Hall Tilley, Jr., 91, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Veteran’s Hospice Facility in Durham with his son by his side. He had been in declining health for the past couple of years.
Mr. Tilley was born in Durham to the late Henry Hall Tilley and Annie Laurie Wilkins Tilley Gardner. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and was veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. Mr. Tilley was manager of Durham Laundry and Dry Cleaners for 22 years and then employed with Dillon Supply for 10 years in sales. He retired from Howerton & Bryan Funeral Home after 25 years of service. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he married Louellen Carlton Tilley in 1948. They were married over 63 years until she predeceased him in 2012.
In addition to his wife and parents he is predeceased by his younger brother, Wade Holt Tilley of New Bern.
Mr. Tilley is survived by his son Michael C. Tilley and wife Marla; sister, Daisy G. Williams of Creedmoor; sister-in-law, Gail Tilley of New Bern and two nephews.
Mr. Tilley received excellent care from the entire Durham VA Hospice staff during his 11 days in the facility. He will be greatly missed by his family and especially his son whom he depended on greatly during the past several years.
Pallbearers will be Michael C. Tilley, Tommy Hudson, John Wood, Stephen Mitchell, Cecil Lee and Tyler Noblitt.
A visitiation will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Chris Agoranos and Rev. Laurie Hays Coffman. Burial with military honors will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
