DURHAM- Mr. Henry Lee Cooke, 67, passed away Friday January 6, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Henry was born and raised in Durham, NC. He was educated by the Durham schools. He then attended Campbell College earning a bachelor’s degree. After attending Campbell College, Henry joined the National Guard. Henry served his country and retired from then National Guard as a Chef Warrant Officer CW4 of 35 years. Henry was a lifetime member of the National Guard Association and a member of the National Guard AUS and V.F.W. Henry was awarded the Order of Long Leaf Pine. Henry was a member of North Topsail Shores Baptist Church. Henry is preceded in death by his parents George and Margaret Cooke. Henry is also preceded in death by his daughter Nicole Cooke Hyde. Henry is survived by his wife Sharon Cooke; son Henry Blake Cooke (Rachel); sister, Jane Cooke Webster; grandchildren, Bailey and Taylor Cooke. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday January 12, 2017 at Hudson Funeral Chapel. A visitation will be held an hour prior from 1-2 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Dwayne Collins. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the North Topsail Shores Baptist Church 808 Old Folkstone Road, Sneads Ferry, NC 28460.
