Hickmon (Jay) Odell Churchill Jr.

DURHAM Mr. Hickmon “Jay” Churchill, Jr., 66, of Durham, died on Wednesday, August 31, 2011.Mr. Churchill was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Hickmon Odell Churchill Sr. and Nannie Mae Goodwin. He attended Grove Park Chapel. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward, Percy, Willie and Duke Churchill and one sister, Azeline Swartz.He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Churchill; one daughter, Debra Chase and husband, Rodney of Rougemont and one grandchild, Ashley Nicole Chase.Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Dale Brooks. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Casey Powell, Robert Chase, Tony Freeman, Wayne Churchill, Jim Hicks and Keith Pate.The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Snowdean Freeman, 920 Danbury Drive. Flowers are acceptable.
