Homer Allen Watkins

DURHAM Mr. Homer Allen “Shakey” Watkins, 67, of 4607 Cheek Road, died on Wednesday, October 1, 2014.
Mr. Watkins was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Lonnie and Virginia Young Watkins. He was painter and worked with George Hammock Paint Contractors. He attended Fellowship Baptist Church. He loved fishing, working in his yard and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Haywood Watkins.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie Moore Watkins; son, Jerry Watkins; three daughters, Ann Mathews and husband Lester, Norma Watkins and late husband, Bradley and Donna Watkins; two brothers, Billy Watkins and Tommy Watkins; sister, Janice Peacock: 6 grandchildren, Walter Allen, David Allen, Jimmy Allen, Leslie Briggs, Hayley Watkins and Presley Watkins; 9 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Briggs, Jessica Briggs, Carissa Briggs, Mykayla Briggs, Nico Ruffule, Cheyanne Allen, Leah Allen, Cameron Allen and Cody Allen ; two great-great grandchildren, Logan Briggs, Amber Gilbert and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m., before the service at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Flowers are acceptable.
