Inez Hockaday Durham

DURHAM Mrs. Inez Hockaday Durham, 88, a former resident of Cobb Street, died on Friday, November 22, 2013.

Mrs. Durham was born in Harnett County to the late Joseph and Alma Barefoot Hockaday.  She was employed with Lynnette’s Restaurant and Tastee Freeze. She was a longtime member of the First Advent Christian Church and a member of Cheek Heights Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, L. B. Durham in 1980 and two daughter-in-laws, Linda Durham and Carolyn Durham. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing.

She is survived by three sons, Tommy Durham of Durham, Greg Durham and wife, Janet of Roxboro and Donnie Durham of Durham; daughter, Vicky Tripp and husband, Buddy of Henderson; brother, Elbert Hockaday of Holly Springs; two sisters, Jene Dunham of New Bern and Faye Blackburn of Little Washington; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jim Wallace and Rev. Steven Williams. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Stacy Durham, Tracy Durham, Randy Ross, Gerald Tripp Jr., Will Finch, Brandon Durham. Honorary pallbearer will be Collin Finch.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 1 to 2 p.m., before the service at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 3131 RDU Center Dr, Morrisville, NC 27560.
