John “David” Uzmann, 72, of Durham, NC, passed away on September 27, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born on June 27, 1952, David was known for his warmth, humor, and his incredible green thumb. He had a special focus on houseplants, transforming his home into a lush oasis that provided peace and tranquility to all who visited. His love for plants was only matched by his love for his family, especially his grandkids, and his collection of unique and obscure memorabilia that brought him great joy over the years.

David spent much of his career in warehouse management, most notably with Royal Home Fashions, where his strong work ethic and dedication were admired by colleagues. In recent years, he continued to make an impact at Advanced Auto Parts, where he was appreciated for his reliability and good-natured spirit.

David is survived by his loving partner, Penny Brown, and his three children: Courtney Uzmann Amador and her husband Edgar, Jessica Uzmann and her husband Chris, and Christopher Uzmann. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Elia, Adrian, and Birdie.

A service to honor David’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 3:00pm at Hudson Funeral Homes, located at 211 S Miami Blvd, Durham, NC. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the memory of a remarkable man who brought so much joy to those around him.
