DURHAM Mrs. Jacqueline Marie Medlin Addison, 83, of Durham, died on Friday, July 19, 2013.
Mrs. Addison was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the daughter of the late Laurie Benjamin Medlin and Malinda Campbell Medlin. She attended the Alexander Boarding School at age 9 and graduated from Braggtown High in 1949. She enjoyed her yearly class reunions and considered the class of 1949 “the best class that ever graduated”. She enjoyed sewing , yard sales, swimming and listening to Neil Diamond. She retired from Liggett & Myers Tobacco after 25 years of service. She was member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church and Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Allen Addison; son, Linwood Addison; daughter, Karen Ziegler and a brother, Claude Medlin.
She is survived by her son, Jody Addison; two daughters, Penny Walters Lauster and Carla Rose (Jimmy); one brother, Luther Medlin; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Pastor Virgil Nolen. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Phillip Walters, Michael Walters, Michael Walters, Jr., Forrest Adams, Kevin Adams, Adam Rose and Ronnie Cox. Honorary pallbearer will be Chris Payne.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 12 to 1:45p.m., before the service at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park #10 Raleigh, NC 27615. Online condolences may be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
