James Carl Steele

James Carl Steele, 60, of Willard NC, died on Sunday, October 13, 2013.

Mr. Steele had lived in Willard for the past 27 years.  He worked in construction as an acoustic ceiling installer and was also a Taxidermist. He was a skilled guitarist and loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence David Steele.

He is survived by his mother, Virginia Norbut of Durham; son, Forrest Steele of Durham; his longtime companion, Ruth Frey of  Wilmington; brother, Lawrence Steele of Durham; half-brother, Ernest Bass of Hillsborough; two sisters, Pat Moles and Gwendolyn Miller both of Hillsborough; several nieces and nephews; extended family, Brenda Brogden, Tracy Gibson and Angela Langley; 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, officiated by Dr. C. J. Bordeaux.  Pallbearers will be Arthur Jeff Miller, Jonathan Miller, Casey Miller, Robbie Moles, Tony Poe and William Street.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30, prior to the service at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Forrest Steele, 4214 Glenda Road in Durham. Flowers are acceptable.
