James Charley Crain

September 6, 1920 — October 23, 2013

DURHAM  Mr. James Charley Crain, 93, of Durham, died on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Mr. Crain was born in Franklinton, Louisiana to the late Charles Calvin Crain and Martha Coleman Crain.  He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and retired from the American Tobacco Company.  He was a charter member of Page Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Louise Grice Crain.

He is survived by three daughters, Judy Phillips, Kathy Hicks and husband, Randy all of Durham; Mary Ann Henderson and husband, Jeff of Raleigh; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Phillips, LTJG Jeremy Phillips,USN (Lynsey-Paige), Charlie Hicks (Michaela), Jennifer Hicks, Michael Henderson (Bethany) and Laura Henderson; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Hicks, Brianna Brault, Quinn Hicks, James Henderson and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Michael Bond.  Entombment will be in the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Charlie Hicks, Troy Crain, Brian Fordham, Michael Henderson, Cody Crain, Jeffrey Phillips, Jeremy Phillips and Michael Boose. Honorary pallbearer will be Roy Wallace.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. Flowers are acceptable or memorial gifts may be made to Page Road Baptist Church, 2000 Page Road, Durham NC 27703. Online condolences can be made at www.hudsonfuneralhome.com.
